How to copy a view-only file to edit
Modified on Thu, 10 Oct at 8:34 AM
In 2024, Google changed their default file copying procedures. Many files created and shared by The Comprehensible Classroom are View-Only to customers. If the file is a Doc or Slides file, the buyer can edit the file if they first make a copy.
To make a copy of any View-Only Docs or Slides template file so that you can edit it, you will need to choose a destination folder before Google will allow you to make a copy:
- Sign into your Google Drive account.
- Open the file you wish to copy.
- Navigate to File » Make a Copy » [Entire Presentation]
- Rename the file as desired
- Change the destination folder to one that is located within your own drive
- Click the "Make a Copy" button
Alternatively, buyers can download the file as a Microsoft Word or Powerpoint file and edit directly in their hard drive or upload to a platform such as Microsoft OneDrive for editing.
