Is Somos an accredited curriculum?
Modified on Sun, 17 Mar at 11:41 AM
We are often asked this question by school districts, and what we have found is that it's an empty requirement and/or one that is open to interpretation.
Accreditation is a process by which various agencies can evaluate and affirm the quality of instruction at institutions, such as schools and universities. There is no accreditation process or agency for curricula, and so it is not possible The Somos Curriculum, or any other languages curriculum, to be accredited.
If you are being asked to prove accreditation for your district, we would love to provide your administrators with the information that they need in order to evaluate the quality and efficacy of The Somos Curriculum. A good starting point is to review our Standards Alignment. We also recommend you review this article about how Somos embodies ACTFL's Guiding Principles for Language Teaching.
We are happy to communicate with a representative from your purchasing and/or curriculum department directly. If that would be helpful, please have them submit a new support ticket.
