What is the difference between a Standard and a Transferable License?

Modified on Mon, 14 Jul at 7:50 AM

The major benefit is that the purchase of a transferable license allows a district to retain and continue using the license when the original licensee ceases use. The district can transfer the to a new teacher, and that teacher can continue using it.

Under a Standard License, the purchaser may:

  • Download, print, and make copies of the Materials for their own classroom use.

  • Store Materials on a personal device or cloud storage account accessible only by the licensed individual.

  • Adapt or modify the Materials for use in their own classroom.

  • Post Materials for student access on password-protected classroom platforms (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology), provided access is limited to the licensed teacher’s students.

Under a Transferable License, the purchasing school or district may:

  • Assign the Materials to one educator at a time for use consistent with the permissions of a Standard License.

  • Reassign the Materials to a different educator when teaching assignments change.

  • Maintain a shared file system for licensed users with controlled access that complies with transferability limitations.

  • Purchase a single copy of the product per licensed educator.
