How are assessments in The Somos Curriculum aligned with instruction?

Modified on Mon, 16 May, 2022 at 2:52 PM

Assessments are included with each Somos unit and are fully aligned to instruction.

Each interpretive assessment (reading, listening) presents students with a passage to interpret via reading or listening. The passages include vocabulary and structures and are related to topics covered in the corresponding unit of the curriculum. Students are well prepared for each assessment through active participation in the communicative activities that take place during course instruction.

Each presentational assessment presents students with a task (writing or speaking) to complete. The task is modeled after communicative tasks that students have completed during course instruction in the current unit of study, and it is matched in complexity and topic to the unit material.
