Do Somos assessments measure growth or achievement?

The assessments included in The Somos Curriculum measure both growth and achievement.

All assessments are evaluated using the same rubrics, which are each aligned to performance standards for the course. On each assessment, students will be required to complete a specific task (either interpretive or presentational), and their performance will be evaluated. In this way, each assessment measures achievement. Because the same standards-based rubric is used for each assessment, student performance on each assessment can also be used to demonstrate growth over time as they progress through the series of assessments in the course.
